I was wondering how many of us use rituals and prayer as part of their daily lives.
Prayer to many is something that seen as a Christian thing to do or maybe done out of compulsion. Yet prayer is simply a way of communicating with a deity.
I communicate with my deities on a regular basis and perform a simple ritual on a daily basis.
Lighting a candle and some incense helps me to focus o things that I am going to to that day.
For example I need to focus on my diet and lighting a candle each day to focus on this helps me to keep this in mind throughout the day.
So what is a ritual?
We perform rituals every day. Think about it what is the first thing you do each day? Do you do things the same way when you get up in the morning? Making a pot or mug of tea, making breakfast, doing the cleaning up. All these things are small rituals.
So a ritual to the Gods need not be long or complicated and they can be full of meaning to you.
Prayer is something deeply personal and one that creates a bond between you and your deities. Personally I do not say the prayer every time. I look at prayer like this it is a form of communication and I would not sent the same letter or email to a friend every time. They would soon get fed up reading the same things each time I wrote to them. So when talking to my deities (praying) I tell them how I feel that day as well as thanking them.
Maybe to some this sounds a little odd but I find it helpful does anyone else do something similar?
