What is a Kitchen/Hearth Witch?
So what is a Kitchen/ Hearth Witch?
This is how I see what being a Kitchen/Hearth Witch means.
It is having a talent for finding the sacred and magickal in everyday things. Doing the dusting, hoovering, ironing, shopping, even paying the bills, seeing chores as a way of connecting to the world and your own personal space. This extends to all places, the garden, your home, the workplace, the way you cook and clean.
It is a way of life that is not being spacey, acting special or being weird, but being mindful in doing regular things. To become more aware each day of the way the God and Goddess is present in our lives..
What do I mean by becoming mindful!
Being aware of what you eat and how it impacts on you, the environment and others.
To me this includes things like re-cycling, growing some of my own vegetables and herbs. Gardening without the use of chemicals. If you do not have a garden you can still grow herbs and re-cycle things and think about the food you eat. It is basically learning to recognise the web of life connecting you, your food and everything around you.
It is also learning to use symbology with the food we prepare. Symbology in food varies, it does not have to be a ritual feast/meal to be sacred. It can be a weekly meal that everyone gets involved in adding their energy to the meal.
It can be in the decor of your home using symbols from nature like stones flowers or plants along with things that remind you of the God and Goddess.
In summary being a Kitchen/ Hearth Witch is more than cooking it means living a life that is mindful of our actions and thoughts as well.
The Kitchen Witch's Creed
In this pot, I stir to the sun
an’ follow the rule of harming none.
Banishment of bane when goin' widdershins
an' with water and salt negativity is cleansed
Household duties are more than chores
Magick abounds when mopping floors.
With this broom, I do sweep
to clean my house and safety keep
Marigold, Basil, Thyme, and Yarrow
my spell is cast for a better tomorrow.
Lemons for joy and apples for health
the pow'r within brings great wealth.
And, in this kitchen I do pray
To truly walk the Witches' Way

Now before you think you have to go out and start buying in loads of things let me assure you this is not the case. Use what you have for example if you do not have a pestle and mortar therre is nothing wrong in using the end of a wooden rolling pin and a solid bowl. You can always ask for a pestle and mortar as a present at a later date.
Tools of Kitchen Witch
ALTAR: This can be simple or elaborate we will cover this at a later date don't worry about it now.
BROOM: One for mundane use and one to clear out psychic clutter and rid the home of negative energy. To begin with I used some twigs tied to a piece of dowel it was small but still effective.
KETTLE: A good sturdy on but not made of iron. Again use what you have the likelyhood of your kettle begin made of iron is remote.
SCISSORS: Good for all sorts of things in the kitchen plus they are used to break malocchio ( evil eye). If you feel you have been cursed drop an open pair of scissors behind you to break the curse.
KNIFE: Used for cutting symbols into things or cutting fresh herbs.
