Where to begin
Where you start is up to you. What you are doing is making everything clean neat and tidy. I start with cupboards and end up cleaning the floor. Think of it as a Spring Clean with a Magickal purpose.
Do these tasks as and when you can, I have mobility problems and find doing all this impossible in one day now, so I split things up. I do the cupboards and draws then the counter tops first. ( I give the floor a quick go over) The next day I will do the fridge freezer cooker and washing machine. Then I clean the floor properly and end up with the draining board and sink.
How and when you do this is up to you this is not part of the assignments. This is for information that you can work on when you have the time to do so.
I like to do this once a year usually in the Spring,
1) Cupboards and Drawers
Lets face it we all cram things into them and forget what we have. Make piles of the things you want to keep and discard anything broken or chipped. Give things you do not use to a charity shop. I work on the theory if I have not used something I a year I am not going to so it is moved on.
Or why not give it someone who needs them here uk.freecycle.org/ Don’t be put off by the site address you will find links for other countries on this site as well including Europe and America.
*Bless each cupboard and draw when done. (This is why you wrote your own Blessing)
2) The Fridge
You probably clean out your fridge on a regular basis anyway. Cleaning it inside and out, sorting any out of date items is always a good thing. Don't forget to clean the top.
3) Counter tops
If at all possible de-clutter the work surface. Wipe down and clean everything that sits on your counters. This includes any and all appliances, Kettle, Crock-pot, Food Processor, Bread maker, Toaster, Can opener, anything you have that hangs above them as well.
*Use a chant whilst you do this. Use the Chant you wrote.
4) Cooker and Washing machine
Wipe down and clean the washing machine inside and out. If it is under the counter do not attempt to move it you do not want to hurt yourself in the process. Next comes the messy job of cleaning the cooker and the oven.
Once you have done this Bless all your appliances those on the counter top and on the floor.
The Floor
By now the floor will look a real mess, well mine did anyway. Sweep out or Hoover the floor to remove all dirt and negativity finally mop to make it clean.
5) Sink and Draining Board
I do the sink last after pouring away the dirty water from washing down the floor. I use Bicarbonate of Soda to clean down the sink, bleach is not a good idea with stainless steel sinks.
Wipe down the draining board and buff up. I use window cleaner the spray sort to buff the draining board.
Now stand back and admire all your hard work.
These are the main tasks, what follows are tasks that will purify the space, create a negative energy collector, make a witches bottle and a Kitchen Altar.
Tasks to complete
6) Purification Spell
I used Incense for this along with a Lemon, Rosemary and Cloves.
Cut the Lemon into slices add some Rosemary and one Clove. Cover with water and bring to the boil. Allow the steam to permeate the kitchen. Light the Incense and visualise your kitchen as a safe and sacred space. The Insence I used was Sandalwood.
7) To repel Negative Energy
This is simple, place a whole bulb of garlic in the kitchen window. After some time ( you decide when) take the bulb and bury it in the garden giving thanks for the work it has done and also thank the earth. Use any leaves that grow from the bulb as you would chives they are really mild garlic flavour. If you do not have a garden place in a pot with compost and let it grow that way.
Or:
A pot of Basil you can buy this in a supermarket if you want to but the basil from a garden centre is better as it has not been forced. You can grow it yourself from seed as well. Place it on the kitchen windowsill and use the leaves in your cooking.
Or:
An Aloe plant to repel negative energy. They are easy to take care of as they area a succulent so do not need a lot of watering pus if you get burnt you can snap a piece off the plant and rub it on the burn. (Only for minor burns)
8) Kitchen Witch Bottle
You will need :
a bottle or jam jar not too big,
salt, (sea salt if you can get it )
Dried Sage crushed to a powder,
2 Pins.
Red candle.
Half fill the jar with Sea salt.
Add enough Sage to cover the salt until it is no longer visible.
Place the two pins in a X on top in the middle.
Cover with more Sage and then fill the rest of the jar with Sea salt.
Shake the jar 7 times saying:
Salt and Sage and iron inside
Protect my home from evil eyes
Pure of purpose, strong of heart
Let joy flow through every part.
Seal the top of the jar with red wax by lighting the red candle and allowing it to drip into the closed lid on the jar to seal it. Visualise your kitchen and home filled with love and happiness. Put the jar on a high shelf in the kitchen where it will not be disturbed.
This was something I found in the Wee Little Kitchen Witch Book.
9) Kitchen Altar
Having selected the Deity that you are drawn to add tools and items you see as relevant and place them on a shelf, counter top or in a cupboard or near the cooker. An altar can be a simple or as complex as you wish.
Your altar does not have to be big it is there for you to focus on. You can have something like a picture of the deity you have chosen to work with, a stone, a feather, in fact anything that you feel represents your deity.
My altar consists of a Pestle and Mortar, a jug with a wooden spoon it, a teapot, an Element jar, a salt cellar (container). From Salt dough I made a Horn of Plenty and a small plaque with the name of the Goddess on it, that is above them on the wall.
If your Goddess is associated with ovens you can have a candle to remind you of the heat.
Items do not have to be large you can buy dolls house items for your altar, that way you can keep the size of your altar small enough to sit on a windowsill or part of a shelf.
You can add a picture of family and friends that you cook for.
Find a picture of your Goddess frame it along with pictures of her associations, colours and anything else to do with the Goddess. If you do not have space on a shelf then hang it on the kitchen wall.
Find a plant the is associated with your deity or a crystal.
If you work with Elementals or the Elements use things that are associated with them it is your altar do what you want.
