I know people who've used lulu, I think it's quite good, particularly if you get given an ISBN number. If you get one with it it's far more promising as your book can then be listed on Amazon, and make monies P.S. you r right, it sounds very painful

I may have a look at this I have a book or two inside me so I may give it a go. I wrote a story for my husband and he let a friend read it they loved it and siad I should get it printed. It is a different take on Jack the Ripper. I would have to re-type it though as the documents as lost thanks to the old computer breaking down I do have a hard copy though so it could be done again.

A lot of people sneer at the idea of self publishing. But I wonder if they would mock quite as much if they were to look a the prices some self published works fetch on Amazon market place? I would cite 'Chaotopia' by Dave Lee, the early works of Pete Carroll, Phil Hine etc.

Lets face it the mainstream publishers will rarely publish something completely original, they want books that are a 'safe bet.' And they're less likely to publish something specialised about magic or with a niche market. I think it's brill that now people don't need an initial outlay running into thousands of £ to self-publish, years ago only posh people could do it.

Thats why I want to have a go at this. I want to get my wheat free recipes out there along with a couple of other books. Years ago I wrote stories for my children and read them out to to different classes in their schools. The children loved them and the teachers said that I should get them published. Well with a bit of tweeking and a lot of typing I may give it a go. So one day the Land of Magic Toys may be out there along with the story I wrote for my husband. What have I got to lose! I will have to take a look at the advertising bit as you have to buy that I will have to see what that involves. Aftr all there is no point have a book published if no one knows about it.

After all there is no point have a book published if no one knows about it. Well we will advertise you too, then your books will be a roaring success like Seans'. And you could ask Seans' advice too when you get to that point.
