I've found that people who are critical of other's spelling and grammar are usually horrible at respectable debates. The last bastion of a poor debater is attacking the spelling of the person they are debating. Childish and stupid if you ask me. Now, I hate chatspeak and textspeak, but that's different. I like the English language too much to butcher it like that, but I don't care about typos or incorrect spelling. I don't have pet peeves, I have a whole freakin' peeve menagerie. Racism. We're all the same deep down, get the hell over it. Sexism, homophobia, xenophobia see comment above. Basically unfounded hatred is one of my biggest pet peeves. As a comedian once said "Why hate people for the color of their skin when you can get to know them and find all sorts of things to hate about them?" Cellphone users. Not the entire group, but the ones who use them at the wrong time. Drive, don't talk, watch the movie and catch up with your friends later, I paid for my seat too. I don't want to hear about your rash while I'm shopping for frozen peas, some conversations shouldn't be held in public. Ill-behaved children and the morons who spawn them. My kid is no angel, she acts up and gets lippy the same as ever kid since the dawn of time. But, she knows how to behave in public. Never once has she run around the store like a demon on crack. There comes a point where "Now, honey don't do that" just isn't enough. Go and stop your little demon from doing that, he's obviously not listening to you. On the opposite side of that coin, we have parents who should never have children to begin with because they can't interact with them rationally. Parents who are verbally and physically abusive to their kids are just as bad the arm-chair parents who let their kids run wild. Middle ground anyone? People who feel the need to be as hurtful and mean as possible even when they see I'm at my breaking point. Is kicking me when I'm already down some sport I'm unaware of? Are their points involved? When are the playoffs, I want to hide under a rock. Seriously, I'm a sensitive girl. It doesn't take much to hurt me. But, it's not exactly sporting to twist the knife once it's firmly inserted now is it? Bringing up the rear, we have people who try to appear smart by using big words they don't know the meaning of. Using the wrong word is different, I'm talking about those stuffy jerks who think they're better than the rest of humanity because somewhere along the line they got a word-a-day calendar. Oh, and while I'm off on a rant here, people who talk out of their a*ses really annoy me. I'm an American and I get sick and tired of other Americans assuming that I hate my country because I'm outspoken about my politics and beliefs. No, I'm just an ill-behaved woman who has a mouth on her. I believe as did some famous but not dead yet woman that well behaved women rarely make history. I'm not well behaved and I intend to change something about this world before I leave it. Sorry, I appear to have jumped up and down on my soapbox a bit there. Essentially, it appears I hate humanity. I don't really hate humanity, I am disappointed with it though.

I can second that Indiequeen.
As for spelling who cares, you should see some of mine before I use the spell check sometimes, ok most are typos but some words just escape me. Grammar ( is't that my Mum's Mum LOL) nope I am not great at that, I do my best but I now I get it wrong. I know he won't mind me saying this, my brother has a huge problem with spelling. At one point be could spell my real name Paula 6 different ways ( Porla, Poorla, Pourla, Porler, Pauler, Porlur) he gets it right now, he used to copy it out letter for lettter but now he spell reasonably well. He can read ok but cannot remember how to spell the word he has just read. At school he was called stupid, he is not, in fact he is far from stupid. He can strip down and build a computer and understand what he is doing. He can blind you with science and has read enough books to fill a library on the subject just don't ask him to spell anything. ( He is 5 years my junior so he is now 48)
My 2 pet peev's are: 1) People who say things need changing in their local community but will not do anything to help out. That really bugs me they want the clubs for the kids but will not get up and help out. They want things improving but will not step up and say I can help for an hour or even go to a meeting to find out what needs doing. Yet they make the most noise about how bad things are.
2) People who put others down all the time including children. We are all unique and each person is important. I hate it when I hear someone calling their child stupid simply because they cannot do something. I know how much that hurts.

I hate it when I hear someone calling their child stupid simply because they cannot do something. I know how much that hurts. Arg, why would anyone do that, it sounds really evil. I mean, my dad said it to me sometimes, but it was probably true ;D It is really nasty. He would shout it at me if I'd broken something, which is a frequent occurence I can't think of a peev right now lol that's what a lovely disposition I have ;D
