Heavy Metal's a Comfort for the Bright Child www.telegraph.co.uk/connected/main.jhtml?xml=/connected/2007/03/21/nmetal21.xmlIntelligent teenagers often listen to heavy metal music to cope with the pressures associated with being talented, according to research. The results of a study of more than 1,000 of the brightest five per cent of young people will come as relief to parents whose offspring, usually long-haired, are devotees of Iron Maiden, AC/DC and their musical descendants. Researchers found that, far from being a sign of delinquency and poor academic ability, many adolescent "metalheads" are extremely bright and often use the music to help them deal with the stresses and strains of being gifted social outsiders.

It was on the BBC news site too, though I'm not really sure what was the point of the research in the first place.

I must tell my brother he was a metal head the schools wrote him off as being slow, he had problems with spelling. He can read a word but cannot spell it, so he was told he was lazy etc.Well he is an artist and is very good with computers and even builds the things. See he was bright all the time LOL
