They are pedantic and a bit thick lol, I posted my scarlet blotches poem there and they said I should make the meter into exactly 15 syllables a line. I explained that it was a song and I had stuck to the meter of the song. If you post a poem for 'critique and revision' I think they have very standard responses like trying to make the meter 'correct' etc. The good thing about criticism like that is that it was one of the few forms of criticism I didn't take to heart. If they had actually criticised the subject matter or something I probably would've been effected by it. Sparknotes poetry board is more accepting of free verse and modern forms, and its tone is more informal. For example scarlet blotches got- 'I don't know what it's about, so it must be good.' 'It's based on a song isn't it- my father gave me the record before he died.' Posting something on both like this would probably be good. If you let me know when your poem is up on either board, I will go and comment on it. You are more likely to get other comments if someone has already commented, if you see what I mean What I've been searching for is a good board for therapeutic/survivor type poetry- any ideas? Love Kath

I did it, and got critiqued (!!); very gentle critique, I thought. Night Blooming Serious, MEA is the poem. I expected to be torn to shreds. [/quote] They're not evil, I've only been on there a couple of times but I keep meaning to more. Some of the people writing on there, English is not their first language, which makes their poems even more confusing. lol Maybe I need to rewrite it because noone has been able to understand what's going on, whereas in my head it is a clear narrative sequence ;D It is about an evil woman. You decide whether the 'baddy' the narrator or the subject tho! A lady finds out her enemy wants a baby. The enemy woman a lot of people in the town don't realise what shes like. The first lady wishes the enemy woman would experience some public shame (blushes) She says a prayer or begs the infernal forces that the enemy woman will be shamed. On her special day the enemy woman has menstrual blood all over her dress and a bright red face of humiliation ;D 'I'll tell no-one from What Place' because the revenge comes from a Satanic source. Was it worth it though to see your name in print? Love Kath P.S. the sparknotes 'your poetry' is worth a visit, they are friendly and chatty on there. The flame wars are all in the past hopefully
